Serve

"Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?'  And I said, “'Here am I.  Send me!'"

Isaiah 6:8 (NIV)

Jesus came to serve and not to be served. He was most concerned with serving the broken and those in need. At FPC, we try to follow His example as we reach out to those in our immediate community and globally, sharing in their struggles and hopes. Our goal is to encourage and equip our church members to participate fully in God’s plan to spread the gospel locally and throughout the world, to reach out to the least, the last, and the lost, and to communicate God's love to them.

We encourage the members of our church to participate fully in God’s plan to spread the gospel locally and throughout all the world. Whether taking the form of a mission trip, collecting items for distribution, or corresponding with FPC supported missionaries, our congregation reaches out to spread the wonderful word of God to those in the darkest corners of the world.

Hands-On Opportunities

2.7 million children in the U.S. have a parent that is incarcerated. Through the Angel Tree program, members and friends of FPC have the opportunity to purchase a Christmas gift for a child from Northeast Polk County who has an incarcerated parent.

We recognize that many families in our local area cannot provide basic supplies to help their children in school. Each summer we collect everything from pencils and notebooks to jackets and tennis shoes that are distributed through our local elementary schools to families in need, ensuring that all children can begin the school year with at least the basics.

A team of FPC members work to bring encouragement and affirmation to the teachers and administration of this Haines City Middle School.

Our Food Pantry feeds an average of 350 people a month. The food pantry is open to needy families Wednesdays and Fridays from 1—3 PM. We rely on the generosity of our church family to provide food, money, and time.

Kids Kingdom partners with our Mission Team to identify a worthy charity or need. Whether it's packing bags for "Snacks for Packs" or filling shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, our church comes together to spread the love of Christ by providing tangible items and meeting immediate needs.

FPC partners with ministry organizations to arrange annual trips to Cuba and the Dominican Republic. In Cuba, for several years now we have helped build home churches and supply equipment. In the Dominican Republic, we are supporting CUPS, an organization dedicated to helping the impoverished as well as getting the getting the young women off the streets and into gainful employment. These trips are truly the work of the Lord!

Our members are encouraged to pack shoe boxes in support of Operation Christmas Child (OCC), a 20-year program of filling shoe boxes that bring the life-changing Good News of Jesus’ love to millions of children around the world. This program, sponsored by Samaritan's Purse, has reached more than 100 million boys and girls in over 130 countries, demonstrating God’s love in a tangible way to needy children everywhere.

"Adopting" 20 school children from a local elementary school, FPC provides one bag of food to each child per weekend for the duration of the school year for the purpose of helping meet identified nutritional needs.

Our summer VBS program is a week-long event offered to the children of this community and includes games, snacks, crafts, skits, and, of course, Bible lessons. Using a different theme each year, there is always a connection between God and the theme, allowing kids to discover God in a creative way.

Wonderful Wednesdays, our after-school mentoring and tutoring program, runs throughout the school year and serves area elementary children. Adult volunteers share their love of Christ with these youngsters, modeling patience and providing a nurturing environment. This dynamic ministry is always looking for additional volunteers.

Missionaries

Through our Mission Team, FPC provides financial support to a number of dedicated missionaries around the world, as they work daily to bring others to Christ. As a congregation, we support them through prayer and by attending mission dinners and lunches.
