"If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up."
Ecclesiastes 4:10 (NIV)
There are many life events that can break our hearts: the death of a loved one, a strained relationship, the loss of a job, the end of a marriage. When you are experiencing grief and despair, knowing that someone cares can go a long way to provide comfort and regain normalcy in your life. Knowing that members of your church family are praying for you can give you solace. Knowing that there is someone to talk with can give you the strength to move forward.
FPC has many ministries, through support groups, one-on-one support, and prayer, that provide spiritual care and can help someone as they walk in the valley. Whether you are going through a difficult time or have the gift of compassion and care, consider participating in one of our Care Ministries.
We are proud to be a Stephen Ministry congregation since 2008. Stephen Ministers are well-trained lay members of the church who care for people with a wide range of ministry needs – grief, divorce, unemployment, hospitalization, loneliness, a spiritual crisis, financial stress, infertility, rehabilitation after an injury, terminal illness, relocation, long-term disability, and countless other life difficulties.
Stephen Ministers provide one-to-one care to people going through a crisis or difficult time. They meet with that person on an ongoing basis, offering distinctively Christian care and support. Each Stephen Minister typically cares for one person at a time and meets with that person once a week for about an hour. Men are matched with men; women with women. The caring relationship lasts for as long as the need remains.
If you have an interest in serving as a Stephen Minister, or would like for us to assign you a Stephen Minister, please contact the church office.
Our Heartstrings Ministry, serving under the umbrella of Steven Ministry, provides a Christ-centered safe, secure, loving environment where grieving people can find discussion, support and strength to begin the healing process. Regardless of the source of your grief, the confidential caring of Heartstrings Ministry is available to you.
As part of this ministry, we also offer a short seminar, entitled Journey in Grief Care, which is open to our entire church family. This will prepare believers to come along-side those who have lost a loved one with the skill, confidence, knowledge and compassion to provide comfort.
Divorce Care is a support group that features biblical and practical teachings to help those who are experiencing the pain of separation or divorce. This ministry also offers support to children whose parents are experiencing this difficult journey through the DC4K ministry. The goal of this ministry is to offer a warm, welcoming, and loving environment to families.
For more information, please contact our church office or visit the Divorce Care website.
Prayer is simply communication with God. It is listening and talking to Him. The church practices and encourages both corporate prayer and individual prayer.
Church-wide Prayer Meeting
On the second Tuesday of each month, we come together in the sanctuary and pray for an hour for our church, our ministries, our families, and our world. These meetings have progressively grown and we believe God hears our pleas and blesses us.
Our Tuesday morning Prayer Group meets for intercessory prayer for concerns identified on the prayer wall. This group is open to anyone with a calling for prayer.
Prayer Teams are available after the 11 AM worship service on Sunday mornings to pray confidentially for your concerns. You will find the teams, wearing green stoles, near the stained glass windows.
