"I am your God and will take care of you until you are old and your hair is gray. I made you and will care for you; I will give you help and rescue you."
Isaiah 46:4 (GNT)
No matter if you have been a Christian all your life or if you have just recently accepted Christ into your heart, there is still much work to be done before we take that last journey home. Sharing our faith with others, learning from them, praying and studying with fellow Christians are ways to strengthen our relationship with each other, with the church and, ultimately, grow closer to God.
At FPC, we offer groups and activities for adults of all ages, regardless of where you are in life. Young parents, empty nesters, retirees, seniors, divorced or widowed, women, and men all can find others in our church family who can relate to their lifestyles. Through Bible study, prayer, mission work, and fellowship we can grow in faith.
Our Adult Believers Club (ABC Young Adults group) meets once-a-month for fellowship activities that build community and friendship. Event times and days vary each month. Anyone post-college-age is welcome to attend.
XYZ - Xtra Years of Zip– This dynamic group meets the second Sunday of the month after the 11:00 service for a meal, sharing food, fun and fellowship. Each month we plan a service day and a day trip. We have also gone on overnight trips in the past. We usually take a hiatus over the summer but regroup in the fall.
Chick Chat - Chick Chat is a fellowship ministry for women to get together and just be God’s girls! We meet four times a year on a Saturday for fun, a meal, and usually a speaker. A donation of $1 goes to further the ministry of Thornwell Home for Children. We encourage women of all ages to join us.
Retreat - Once a year all of us girls get together off site for a weekend retreat. This is a great time for us to connect with each other and grow in relationship with Jesus as we study the Bible, participate in worship, spend time in discussion and, of course, have fun!
Our Men's Ministry understands the need for male bonding, for the opportunity for fathers, husbands, and single men to shake off their daily responsibilities and share fellowship with other Christian men. Whether enjoying a local ball game, pitching in to help the elderly or disabled, competing on the golf course, or coming together for breakfast and a speaker, we provide dedicated, loving, confidential Christian fellowship for our brothers, equipping them to handle future challenges through prayer and Biblical devotion. We strive to do all for the glory of God.
Just Me - All single, divorced, widows, widowers, and those living alone are welcome. This group meets the 4th Friday of each month (except during holidays). Someone within the group is elected each month to pick a place to meet and eat, usually at a local restaurant. When something of interest is close, we may go to museums, zoos, historical places, or concerts.
Regardless of age, our active adults are quite removed from the stereotypical senior citizen of yesterday. Their attitudes are different and their behavior is different. This group of active adults, self-confident, in decent health (praise God) and personally productive, would rather serve others than be served and desire to pass on the experience and wisdom that they have gained over the years. This group will offer participants opportunities to meaningfully give time, effort, money, and energy. They spend time with others who share common interests, enjoy going out, have supportive friendships, display a great sense of humor, and view retirement as a time for work, study, service and play.
