“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV)
FPC is a dynamic church with programs designed for Christian growth through interaction with fellow Christians. Through fellowship, Bible study, and prayer, we are intentional about creating an environment that fosters genuine and godly friendships - to create relationships where you can learn from each other, mentor one another, and support one another. As your extended kingdom family grows, so grows your faith and your spiritual maturity.
If you are interested in joining one of our ministries or have questions about any of them, please contact the church office.
Whether studying a specific section of the Bible or a Bible-related topic, we offer various classes on Sundays and during the week. Our normal schedule includes Adult Sunday School classes offered at 9:30 and 11 Sunday mornings. These are series-based classes, led by various FPC members, that run from six to ten weeks. Everyone is welcome to attend.
On Tuesdays, we offer a morning class for all adults and an afternoon class for women.
Mid-Week classes are varied and open to adults, youth, and children.
Information about these classes are announced as they are scheduled. Of course, you may always call the church office for more details.
Nursery for children under the age of 3 is provided during all Sunday morning services and select special events. All nursery workers have years of experience and are certified to provide the best care for your child. Pagers are given to each parent for peace of mind and are used in case of an emergency or to notify the parents of an inconsolable baby.
KIDS KINGDOM PRAISE & WORSHIP
Our Kids Kingdom (Pre-K through 5th grade) is offered during our Sunday morning 9:45 contemporary worship service. Children meet together for corporate worship and are then broken into age groups for more intensive and age-specific Bible study. The teachers love children and love sharing Christ with them.
CHILDREN'S LIFE GROUP
Our Children’s Life Group (K-5th grade) meets on Sundays at 11 AM. We provide a place for games, creative activities, and a chance for children to learn about Jesus Christ in hands-on ways for the purpose of deepening their faith in Jesus Christ.
Handbell Choir and Beginning Handbell - We have a 3-octave set of Schulmerich bells, and 3 octaves of Suzuki chimes. The FPC Ringers play on special occasions and on Sundays during either the traditional or blended services. Some music reading ability is preferred.
Blended Service Orchestra – The FPC Winds Those who play an instrument are urged to join the music-making and enhance our worship services. We have a regular ensemble of brass and woodwinds who play each week. We meet at 10 AM in the sanctuary for warm-up. There is an opportunity for instrumentalists of nearly any level to participate. We welcome strings, brass, winds, percussion, and keyboards. Students, if you have been playing for at least 3 years, you can probably play most of the music that the Wind Ensemble plays each week. If you have “retired” your instrument, you can often get back to playing level in 6 weeks. Our musicians will be happy to help you out!
Organists / Pianists / Accompanists - FPC welcomes those who have keyboard gifts, and encourages them to play in support of worship services. We use piano or keyboard in every service, and we have a wonderful new digital organ of 4 manuals and 80+ ranks.
No one is meant to do life alone. We are made for relationships, especially with others of our age and similar life situations. Life Groups are a great way to get started on these relationships and get involved in the church. You do not have to be a member of FPC to join a group. We have groups for all ages and phases of life. Through these groups, you will experience Bible study, fellowship, mission projects, and worship. Joining a Life Group is where real, life-enriching relationships can form and grow.
Our Men's Ministry understands the need for male bonding, for the opportunity for fathers, husbands, and single men to shake off their daily responsibilities and share fellowship with other Christian men. Whether enjoying a local ball game, pitching in to help the elderly or disabled, competing on the golf course, or coming together for breakfast and a speaker, we provide dedicated, loving, confidential Christian fellowship for our brothers, equipping them to handle future challenges through prayer and Biblical devotion. We strive to do all for the glory of God.
Prayer is simply communication with God. It is listening and talking to Him. The church practices and encourages both corporate prayer and individual prayer.
Our Tuesday morning Prayer Group meets for intercessory prayer for concerns identified on the prayer wall or names on our prayer list. This group is open to anyone with a calling for prayer.
Prayer Teams are available after the 11 AM worship service on Sunday mornings to pray confidentially for your concerns. You will find the teams, wearing green stoles, near the stained glass windows.
XYZ - Xtra Years of Zip– This dynamic group meets the second Sunday of the month after the 11:00 service for a meal, sharing food, fun and fellowship. Each month we plan a service day and a day trip. We have also gone on overnight trips in the past. We usually take a hiatus over the summer but regroup in the fall.
We are proud to be a Stephen Ministry congregation since 2008. Stephen Ministers are well-trained lay members of the church who care for people with a wide range of ministry needs – grief, divorce, unemployment, hospitalization, loneliness, a spiritual crisis, financial stress, infertility, rehabilitation after an injury, terminal illness, relocation, long-term disability, and countless other life difficulties.
Stephen Ministers provide one-to-one care to people going through a crisis or difficult time. They meet with that person on an ongoing basis, offering distinctively Christian care and support. Each Stephen Minister typically cares for one person at a time and meets with that person once a week for about an hour. Men are matched with men; women with women. The caring relationship lasts for as long as the need remains.
If you have an interest in serving as a Stephen Minister, or would like for us to assign you a Stephen Minister, please contact the church office.
Worship Choir members use their voices in worship helping others to connect with God for either the 8:15 or 11 A.M. service. The choir also performs at special services throughout the year. No audition required! We welcome singers of all levels, ages middle school and up. Rehearsals on Wednesday evenings, 6:00-7:30, August – May, and 30 minutes before the start of each service.
Solo Voice / Instrumental Opportunities - There are frequent opportunities for solos and ensembles, whether vocal or instrumental. These usually require an audition with our Director of Music.
The Cypress Singers are FPC’s resident acapella vocal ensemble. This group of auditioned vocalists has performed throughout the state for over ten years, with programs of Seasonal and Americana music. If you are a strong vocalist and a good sight-reader, consider joining us!
God instructs us in 1Timothy 5:3 to take care of our widows. Our Widows Ministry works closely with other ministries in the church and family members to keep close contact with our widows and to fill their critical needs when necessary.
Our Women's Ministry offers fellowship for all Chrsitian women. It is a time to get together and just be God’s girls! Whether it happens at a Saturday morning seminar, an over-night trip, or an afternoon of Bible study, it is a great time to connect with each other and grow in relationship with Jesus! We value time together to nurture each other, grow in faith, spend time in discussion and, of course, have fun!
The Media Team here at FPC is the behind-the-scenes team that assists in the overall worship experience at all three worship services on Sunday mornings and other events held at the church. We operate audio, visuals on screens, lights, cameras, and live-stream to support the Gospel being presented during the service or event. The Media Team is always looking for volunteers who have an interest or skills at doing audio-visual work. We also train new people to become media volunteers for Sunday mornings.
We have a very active Believers Youth Group here at FPC for grades 6-12. Unless otherwise indicated in our bulletin or church calendar, we meet each Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM in the Youth Room for Bible study, food, and fun. We also meet on Sundays from 11:00 AM to 12 noon in the Youth Room.
Throughout the year, we go on outings, enjoy game nights, participate in fund-raising events, go on mission trips, support church events, study God’s Word, and lift one another up in prayer. Believers youth group is supported by a strong network of loving parents and family members.
