"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms."

1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)

God has richly blessed us in so many ways. Everything we have - our families, our jobs, our homes, our intellect, even the air we breathe - is a gift from above.  God is the owner of all we have and has entrusted us with His resources. As His managers or stewards, we need to use all of our resources in accordance with His will, using the gifts God has given us to do the work God has called us to do.

Giving back demonstrates our gratitude to God for providing for us in the past and demonstrates our trust in God to provide for us in the future. By giving generously, we become a blessing to others. Whether we chose to donate gifts, organize events, or support financially, giving should come from grateful hearts for all that the Lord has done for us.

Volunteering Your Time

Whether you have an occasional hour to spare or can offer a block of time on a regular basis, there is a place for you at FPC.  From setting up the Sunday breakfast bar to folding and collating the Sunday bulletins to filling in for the office receptionist, there are plenty of church needs that you could meet by giving of your time. We need compassionate members to call and pray for those on the prayer list and those with the gift of hospitality to act as greeters on Sunday mornings. We can always use vetted adults to work regularly with community children in our Wonderful Wednesday program. If you have the gift of time, please contact the church office to determine where you could bless the body through your gift of time.

“For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,  so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.   We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.”

Romans 12:4-6 (NIV)

Using Your Talents

God has blessed all of us with skills, talents, and experience.  If you can use a sewing machine or have painted a room, we can use you.  If you are handy in the kitchen or comfortable using hand tools, we can use you.  If you can sing or play an instrument, we can use you.  If art or teaching  is your area of expertise, we can use you.  Do you see a pattern forming?  Please contact the church office to see where our current needs lie.

Donating Gifts in Kind

FPC is always looking for ways that we can help the community.  Often this takes the form of collecting goods for needy neighbors and organizations.  Throughout the year we collect items for our food pantry, school supplies for local needy children, Christmas gifts given through Operation Christmas Child and the local Angel Tree.  We have collected baked goods, repackaged them into baskets, and given them to local teachers and emergency personnel as a thank you for their service.  During the school year, we collect food items for weekend meals for local needy elementary children.  So if shopping is your passion, we have a shopping list for you!

From the Widow's Mite to a Tithe

Our ministries touch so many lives, help promote Christian growth, and introduce the lost to Christ.  However, to continue in these ministries, the church also needs to pay salaries, to care for the church facilities as stewards, and to pay the mortgage.  It comes down to this - just like your family and home, the church cannot function without money. What you are able to give is a conversation between you and God. Whether you give a widow's mite or a tithe of your income, you can safely give over the internet using Pushpay via this website.
